A Norwegian Princesses, Putney, London Wedding

This is the story of Maria and James. We will let Maria tell it in her words:

Maria: We met each other in an old country pub called the Green Man on Putney Heath. I was at university studying counselling and James was working in sales. James's dad tried to get me to go out with James all the time but I was not interested as I thought he was a lot younger than me. It turned out he looked very young but we were the same age and he was actually really funny (who would have thought?!)

James is a typical London boy who grew up playing football and loved any sport. He is a massive Chelsea supporter and has never strayed too far from home and London..

I grew up in a small country town outside Oslo and music's my passion in life. I moved to Oslo when I turned 18 but have also travelled a lot before moving to England. On paper we have nothing in common and our backgrounds couldn't be more different. However we share the same values when it comes to family, friendships and relationships.

James proposed in the forest in my home town in Norway under my favourite childhood tree where I would often play when I was younger. My  mother would take me and my sister into the woods to look for mushrooms and berries. It was a winter wonderland and truly magical place to propose.

We started to save for our dream wedding then in August 2013 we found out I was pregnant, so the wedding had to be put on hold. On 14th April 2014 our beautiful baby boy Charlie was born.  Where before we wanted a huge wedding we realised we'd rather save our money and find our own place and invest in the future of our little family. So our wedding will be a day of giving thanks to our family and friends, a day having fun and laughing together.

For us it was a joy to spend the day with these two families. It turns out the Putney west London tough guy was not so tough, he cried at least twice with the emotion of the day (sorry James 😊) The Vikings well they are not so tough either,  Maria's dad coped no better than James, his heart bursting with pride at seeing his beautiful daughter on her wedding day failed to hold back the tears. So it was left to Maria this country girl from Norway who as a child would pick mushroom and berries from the woods who reigned supreme. Beautiful, serene, cool, calm and collected she held it all together. A Norwegian princess in Putney.
