London wedding

London Home wedding in Wandsworth & Hackney Wick

DSCF1822-Edit.jpg

Sarah and Matthew were originally planning to be married at the Greenwich town hall but due to circumstances had to change to Wandsworth Town Hall. They were not disappointed however as this magnificent Art Deco 1930's built building was perfectly suited to the vintage wedding they had envisaged. The building with its oak panelled corridors and the Italian terrazzo floor tiles has cool vintage stamped all over it.  Wandsworth was buzzing on this warm and sunny Saturday morning as Matthew and Sarah arrived for their civil ceremony. The ceremony was a wonderful mix of laughter and tears beautifully conducted by a very charming and witty registrar who just added to the laughter and the emotion of the service. Technology also played a part with a live web cam transmitting the wedding real time to Sarah's family and friends back home in Canada and around the world.

Sarah and Matthew read to each other their own beautifully personalised wedding vows before Sarah's mum read the lines from their favourite song "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds.

After some group portraits on the grand staircase in the entrance hall the wedding party made itself across London to Sarah and Matthews home reception party in Hackney Wick. There was also time to visit and grab some portraits amongst the colourful street art and even more colourful local characters.  One little character stole the show by asking Sarah if she could take her photo with her mummy's phone and did just that. To capture the character off the area was to capture the character of this couple who clearly love and embrace the diversity and vibrancy of their East London home.

At the end of the wedding day we made are way for the second time across London to Chiswick in West London where the couple spent the night in the High Road House Members Club. We left Mr and Mrs Starrs in this very stylish Scandinavian influenced boutique hotel to relax and reflect with a glass of bubbly in the bath of all places!! and why not. Every wedding we document is different and unique and this was no exception.

Amanda and Michael's London Elopement

When Amanda booked us to shoot their wedding we asked them to tell us a little bit about themselves. Amanda responded with a lengthy email which immediately had our full attention as we never attended a wedding with just the bride & groom before.

Amanda & Michael met in Beijing in 2010 whilst traveling and returned once more in 2013, where Michael surprised Amanda with his proposal during a dinner on the 63rd floor of one of Beijing's tallest buildings. The two of them inspired us immensely with their stories and zest for life. Themselves inspired by the disney film "UP" they had travelled widely together and their relationship was built on a love of travel, exploration and adventure.

We met up the evening before the wedding to learn that Amanda (from Maryland,USA) and Michael had decided as Amanda's family were unable to fly over for the wedding until later in the year, they intended to have a wedding with "JUST THE TWO OF US." Of course both wanted their family and friends to share their special day but as not everybody was able to attend, united they decided to keep the wedding as intimate as possible. Thanks to Skype Amanda & Michael were able to chat and share their wedding preparation with mum & dad across the Atlantic whilst getting ready, before the couple jumped into a black cab to Chelsea Old Town Hall.

After a short wedding ceremony where we yep... the photographers, stepped in as their legal witnesses (we did say small and intimate) the couple headed off in the beautiful winter sun to the Chelsea Physic Gardens to pledge their vows to each other. Their love and total devotion was beautifully expressed in the deep and meaningful vows they made to each other. This wonderful day went by in a flash, before we had to say our goodbyes as the happy couple headed off to the Shard for dinner.

It always surprises us how some folks you meet leave no impression behind while others leave a unique footprint. Amanda & Michael have certainly inspired us with their incredible enthusiasm and positivity, we have no doubt that for this wonderful couple  "ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE"

Love,

Carmen & Warren x
